Website: Take Part
2012

Cover, gallery, and ad banner designs (including extensive photo manipulation) for this collaboration between TakePart.com and MSN. Created to highlight specific issues (e.g. stop animal cruelty, preserving water, and remaining active later in life.) With a bright look, reinforcing the positive approach to the dissemination of information towards creating change.

Website: Artist & author, Ben Templesmith
2012

Portal website to promote the work of artist, Ben Templesmith and act a hub for all of his other websites. Comprising of a gallery, blog, appearances diary, contact section, and consolidating all of his social media and store links. Updatable by the artist, the site design echoes and compliments the current style and color palette established in his existing logo. Top are the chosen design as it was implemented for this site, below are a couple of alternate design options that he didn’t choose.

Logo & Cover Layout: Grim Leaper
2012

Logo for a new comic book from Image / Shadowline Publishing. Created to evoke the madcap adventures of cinema in the late 1950’s, this logo design and tagline completes the look over cover art by Aluisio Santos. Kurtis Wiebe’s story of a man and woman leaping from dying body to dying body, meeting over and over again in each life, is a romantic yet macabre adventure that I felt evoked movies like “Vertigo” and “Seconds”, so I sought out a contemporary take on a Saul Bass-inspired design. More about the process is written here.

eBook Cover: Astro Van
2011

Left is the final cover design for the new novel by Josh Flanagan. On the right are two of the initial designs, not chosen for the final book. The design is a combination of elegant minimalism and the queazy color clashes of puppetry and unwanted adventure. The patina of filth is suggested by the protagonist’s Astro Van.

(You can find it for the Amazon Kindle, or Barnes & Noble Nook.)

Logo & Book Cover: Butcher Baker The Righteous Maker
2011

Logos, cover design, and interior text pages for this Image Publishing comic book, by Joe Casey and Mike Huddleston. Designed to evoke classic action-hero comic books from the last 50 years. These brash, high-impact cover designs were created using a theme of red, white, and blue to reinforce the image of a patriotic hero of a bygone age.

Teaser Ad Campaign: Butcher Baker The Righteous Maker
2010

A month long, daily teaser campaign preceding the release of this new comic book from Image publishing. Using only the publisher logo and no other information, the high impact imagery and quotes excited curious audiences and encouraged discussion about what the comic book would be. Upon release, the comic book had a waiting audience, and sold out for the first 3 issues.

Like the comic book itself, the imagery and quotes convey the confrontational nature of the forthcoming story, while the clunky grid, tri-color palette, and awkwardly customized font reinforce the insensitive, flag-waving nature of the superhero depicted.

Identity and Website: Out on a Limb Film
2010

Website and identity design for this documentary film in-production, created to assist in fund-raising, event planning, and film promotion. The far right designs were chosen as high-impact yet still an organic showcase for the photography. All of all designs were created to be an effective showcase for the photography, though the mood of each is distinctly different.

Website: Stainmaster Carpets
2010

Designs for the internal sections of the new website for Stainmaster.com. Designed to convey the feel of a little black dress, indispensable and perfect for every occasion. The cool elegance of the design uses the swooping shape of the underline in the logo as a page dividing graphic element, reinforcing the brand. The navigation uses imagery and text to ease movement within the site.

Ad campaign: Solar Panels
2010

Advertising a new kind of solar panel through the creation of a logo and accessible communication of this more sustainable technology. These mock-ups use magazine ads, billboards and direct mail pieces to highlight the very different nature of this kind of solar panel.

Ad campaign: Bare Minerals Skincare
2010

Designs for a lush, interactive, community-driven ad campaign to launch Bare Minerals new skincare line. The campaign is shown on the Bare Minerals website, facebook pages, iPads and associated websites.
